December 15, 1989 the section Experimental and Applied Entomology of the Netherlands Entomological Society (N.E.V.) organized the first of a series of annual meetings. During this meeting Dutch experimentally and/or applied working entomologists had been invited to present the results of their current research. The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen the contact between entomologists, who are mainly working separately in their own field of research, e.g. ecology, ethology, physiology, parasitology, agricultural or forest entomology etc.
